Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, Maine

Two summer's ago, Courtney and I planned a trip with our boyfriends to go hiking and camping in Acadia.  Well, work got in the way for the boys schedules so it turned into a girl's trip.

Courtney and I packed up our dogs and some camping supplies and made the 7+ hour drive from Old Lyme, Connecticut up the coast of Maine to Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor, Maine.  We had both been wanting to visit Acadia for a while.  It was the perfect girls trip (with our adorable dogs).  Acadia is the most dog friendly National Park.  Virtually all National Parks do not allow dogs on any of the trails.  Acadia is the (wonderful) oddball.  Dogs are allowed on nearly every trail in the park.

The drive up was absolutely beautiful and we stopped in some of the cutest towns- Portland, Thomaston, Wicasset, and Bar Harbor just to name a few. We followed beautiful Route 1 through all these towns and returned on the faster (and much less scenic) highway.

We spent a day hiking Acadia with the dogs and even camped out in the park.  One teeny two person tent, two girls two dogs.  Our last morning we woke up extra early to enjoy Mimosas and watch the sun rise over Cadillac Mountain.

Acadia is a must see if you love National Parks on a gorgeous coast,
 and anything/everything Maine!
