Spring in Salt Lake City, Utah

Salt Lake City isn't really a well known place, or on the top of everyone's travel list. What it is known for is its skiing at Park City, the site for the winter Olympics, the bizarre liquor laws, and it's religion.  Usually when I mentioned Salt Lake City before the move I got a joke about turning into a ski bum, drinking "near beer", and finding sister wives.

Salt Lake City is sooo much more than all of those little jokes.  I didn't know anything about it either and every season, and every trip around this state really amazes me.  Sure, there are some setbacks.  The liquor laws are so annoying and I hate living somewhere with no separation of church and state.  And then there is the no ocean thing.

But for all those negatives, there are so many amazing things this place has to offer.  It is such a beautiful clean city, full of everything from amazing restaurants and theatre, to amazing hiking and biking trails.  I have shared pictures of wonderful parks, views from my runs, and today I am sharing some gorgeous pictures of spring in the city.

  1. Your trees have leaves! Spring is so far behind here. I just now have a few sprouts coming up for the spring flowers that are normally out by now. But I did get to ride yesterday! So baby steps...
I suppose if you can't have Ocean early spring is a reasonable trade off. At least for a couple weeks!

  2. I've noticed that the liquor laws and mormon-esque activity is much more evident in SLC. I live up in Park City and it's much less noticable. You get used to the liquor laws after a whle...or at least know how to "get around" them (ie bring your own wine to restaurants, bring your own cooler to outdoor concerts, stock up before Sunday). But living in Utah you do get to experience all the seasons and the beautiful outdoors!
