Freebies! How to see your cities zoos aquariums parks and museums (For Free!)

Happy Hump Day friends!

I really love visiting all of the local museums, parks, zoos and aquariums.
However, it can get a little pricey.

(At the Tracy Aviary for 5$ after 5 pm Wednesdays in the summer!)

Part of being a graduate student means really staying on a budget.  This can be realllly hard when you are in a new city with so much to see. While I am all about supporting zoos aquariums museums and parks, sometimes it is just not in the budget.  Well, I did some research and found the following ways to get you to some of your favorite museums
(for free!)

Bank of America Card Members
The way it works is there are a list of over 150 museums nationwide that are free (with a BOA card and ID) on the first full weekend of every month.  November has passed but December 6th and 7th is your next chance to get into one of your favorite museums free!

See if your state is on the list!
Sadly Utah is not on this list, but Connecticut is!
New Britain Musuem of American Art
Greenwich Bruce Musuem
Fairfield Musuem
Waterbury Mattatuck Museum
Windsor Locks New England Air Museum
Hartford Wadsworth Antheneum Musuem of Art

Like I said, Utah is not on the Bank Of America list,
but a lot of museums and parks around Utah offer a few free days a year, usually sponsored by ZAP.

1.  Utah Musuem of Fine Art
Free first wednesday and third saturday of every month

2.  Natural History Museum - four free days a year
2015:  Monday, January 12,  April 13, July 13 and October 12

3.  Living Planet Aquarium
Tuesday October 14th, is ZAP’s sponsored FREE Admission Day for The Living Planet Aquarium

4.  Hogle Zoo
Admission is free at Hogle Zoo on the last Wednesday of the month from
 November through February.

5.  Utah Museum of Contemporary Art:
UMOCA suggests (but does not require) a donation of of $5 per person for admission, but the museum hosts free"Family Art Saturdays" with hands-on art activities the second Saturday of every month from 2-4 p.m.

6.  Tracy Aviary
Wild Wednesdays with Free Admission every Wednesday in November through March. Note that there is a $1 Aviary conservation fee per person, sponsored in part bySalt Lake County Zoo, Arts & Parks

7.  Red Butte Garden

And ALWAYS FREE for U of U students!
