Weekly Recap June 2nd to June 8th and new goals!

Weekly Recap:
June 2nd to June 8th.

I set my work out goals for the week ahead of time and for the second time in row, I stuck with them all.  Despite some rain, despite a friend not showing up to boot camp, despite 4:30 alarms, and despite really not wanting to at times, I made it to all scheduled workout and I am giving myself a pat on the back for that.

Making my goals a week ahead of time
and confessing them here, seems to really be helping.

Last weeks accomplished goals/workouts.

Monday:  Kayak  - 1 hour kayak to loosen up some sore muscles after Sunday body pump
Tuesday:  3 mile run-  easy three mile run with Liz.  Stopped half way to do our stem abs and arm routine.
Wednesday- 5:15 HIIT class.  Up bright and early with Hannah and Tori for the 45 minute HIIT class.
Thursday- 5 mile run-  Really humid 5 mile run with some rain, with Olive!
Friday-  Tabatta class.  One hour Tabatta class with Liz.
Saturday- Boot camp.  8 am super sweaty boot camp workout.
Sunday- (Horse show) off

By the time Friday rolled around I was so happy to relax and celebrate with some friends.

Oh, and drink this well earned delicious humongous Beerita
from the marina bar at Saybrook Point Inn.

Saturday I made it to the 8am boot camp class.  If you recall my post about my first boot camp / crossfit style class you know that I really struggled and was nervous to go back.  Well, I couldn't make Sunday's body pump so I sucked it up and made it to boot camp.  It wasn't a partner workout this time but was just as hard.

The workout consisted of  a warm up with jump rope, mountain climbers, and push ups, and then the workout started.  Three rounds with set numbers of:  Push ups, Alternating push ups, tricep push ups, decline push ups,
broad jumps, hop overs, air squats, alternating squats, and then one round of a set number of:  sit ups, kettle ball swings, jump squats, box jumps, and candlesticks with 15 clean and presses between each workout.  I may be missing an exercise or two in there but that was the majority of the torture.  A great workout but again, a REALLY hard (and sweaty) workout.  No pain no gain, right?

I spent the rest of my Saturday with my family at a cookout and house warming party for my sister and brother in law to celebrate their new house.  They put a lot of work into renovating an old house so it was fun to celebrate and see the finished (work in) progress.

Sunday I spent the entire day at a realllly hot and buggy horse show where my horse was a complete jerk.  So- Sunday, was a long day of horse showing, followed by drinks with my sister and friends at a restaurant/bar on the water.

Well, getting back on track with this post,
I wanted to set up my goals for this following week!

Monday:  5pm HIIT class
Tuesday: 3 mile run
Wednesday:  5am HIIT class & Scuba!
Thursday: 5 mile run
Friday:  Tabatta
Saturday:  Lizs shower- day off- maybe evening kayak
Sunday:  8 am Body Pump

Four days of classes, two days of running, and a rest day.

What are your workout/fitness goals for the week?

Checking in!

Hey Friends!
It has been a busy week but lets be real, aren't they all?

I am a GO GO GO type of person and R&R is rarely in my radar.  Well, I just wanted to check in with my workouts, some of my eats, and the fun stuff I have been up to this week.

Tried my first Green Juice- Aloha was offering free samples.

I just mixed mine with water and was not a huge fan of the taste-
will be mixing it with a sweeter smoothie next time.
(This totally tasted like what a bottom of the lawn mower should taste like....)

Olive has been enjoying morning runs,
and enjoying napping the rest of the day away after said run.
Must be nice.

Lunches have been healthy and delicious!  Cooked uo two packages of organic chicken breasts on Sunday to use for the week- with salads.  Also made a large batch of quinoa and green beans.  I can't express enough the important of meal prep for the week!  Especially lunches- good at the wallet and the waistline.

Chicken also made for a tasty sandwich for dinner on the go!
Instead of spending money out or getting something unhealthy on the road- I packed a sandwich and watermelon for dinner pre concert.

I met up with Liz and her fiance Mike, Jill, and her boyfriend Jack to go see Ray Lemontagne in concert.  Was not a fan of his newer music but man, I love his voice and his older stuff.

I have been spending lots of time with this stud.  I mean, who wouldn't?
He has been on his best behavior and I cannot wait to get to a horse show this weekend. (And he looks fantastic :)

Workouts have been going great as well!
Monday I was sore from Sundays pump so I did some light kayaking
Tuesday- 3 mile run, abs, and arm work with Liz
Wednesday- 5:15 HIIT with Liz and Tori
Thursday:  5 mile run

Right on track with Mondays projected schedule
Can I get a Hallelujah

And I have all of my lovely ladies to thank :)

Lots of different workouts (different variety and hard workouts!)
and healthy eating has really (finally) given me results !

I have gotten tons of compliments on my toned arms
and a lot of people noticing weight loss and it feels soooo good!
The best motivation to keep on keeping on.

My Utah Bucket List

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

The weather has been beautiful and I have had an amazing spring/summer so far.  Almost all of my friends are back in Connecticut and I have really been enjoying the sunny days.  Being "alone" means spending so much time with my friends and family and I am really lucky to have them all so close, and so many reasons to celebrate (babies, houses, marriages, oh my!).

However, as the "good times roll"  my anxiety about leaving them increases a little.  Don't get me wrong, I am SO excited for my move to Utah, but I am really going to miss these people, and I am really going to miss the water.  So, to keep looking forward and positive, I wanted to make a Utah bucket list.

It can be easy to get comfortable, and into a routine, so I wanted to make a bucket list and vow to do one larger weekend trip a month (national parks) and a few smaller trips a month (in the city and surrounding areas).  So to keep excited, I made this list, to make sure I do all of the things I want after leaving New England and conquering the west.   I tried to break the list down into smaller day trips,  bigger trips to national parks, and even bigger road trips to surrounding states.

It's a long list but I was always taught to dream big ;)
Life is an adventure and I am so excited for this next chapter and to have someone to do all of these fun and amazing things with.

45 Minute Stems, Arms and Abs Workout

Good morning  (bloggy) world.
Hope your Tuesday is off to a fantastic start.
I was up at 5:45 to meet Liz for our planned 6:15 workout.

I can't stress how important it is to have a workout buddy for motivation.  Knowing this lady was waiting for me, kept me from hitting my snooze button another hundred times.

45 minute routine, worked the legs, arms, and abs, gossip included.  We ran 1.5 miles to the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection and with a gorgeous view of the water, did a little arms and abs circuit before running back.   Here it is-  if you only have 45 minutes and want a great workout without the gym, TRY THIS!

3 mile out and back, and you need a bench and a grassy or semi comfortable spot for ab and arm work.  Do the workout in this order- I did my run nice and slow for a total workout with the ab and arm work of about 45 minutes.  If you can't run 1.5 miles straight do a run walk or even walk!

Weekly wrap up May 26th to June 1st

Hello Monday!  I am sorry to see the weekend go but looking forward to the start of another week and hopefully some beautiful weather!  I had a fantastic weekend full of wedding fun.  Saturday was centered around bridesmaid duties while Sunday I hung out with the guys before my best friend from college got married.   Such a fun weekend and such a productive week!

(I spent my Sunday with these guys helping them get ready, and then watched Seth marry the love of his life-  Solid Sunday right there!)]

(What I wore to the wedding, and proof that hard works pays off! And how amazing are my shoes! I didn't break an ankle either!)

Over the weekend, I decided that I want to try to make Mondays my weekly wrap up post and use it as a time to reflect on last weeks workout schedule and set goals for the upcoming week.  So... here goes round 1!

(My 5 mile run in Old Saybrook, CT with Jill followed by a starbucks treat!)

Monday- 3 mile run  2 hour paddle
Tuesday-  1 hour paddle
Wednesday- 45 minute HIIT Class
Thursday-  5 mile run
Friday- Tabata Class
Saturday-  3 mile run
Sunday-  Body Pump Class

(Kayaking in Old Lyme, CT)

I was realllllly happy with this weeks workout.  I got in a workout every day and it varied from classes to running to kayaking.  Yes there was no designated "rest" days but I made sure to alternate my workouts.  Kayakin gave the legs a day off etc etc.  And I make sure to not run two days in a row unless I am feeling really guilty.

My goals for this coming week:

Monday:  Kayak
Tuesday:  3 mile run
Wednesday- 45 min HIIT class
Thursday- 5 mile run
Friday-  Tabata class
Saturday- Boot camp
Sunday- (Horse show) off or a slow short run

Do you set weekly work out goals?  What does your week look like?
