Year in Review 2025

 Year in Review 2025

This year was a wild one. Between the news, the kids, and my company, it felt like I was chasing my tail for 12 months straight. It was crazy and chaotic but in all the ways that makes life rich and full. It was full of all the things that make a life worth living with people I love in places I thrive in. We took the kids abroad (first time we took both of them together), I learned a new hobby (weekly tennis lessons all year), Whitney started a Pre-K program at his elementary school, and my business thrived.

January

January is always a slow month which is what we always need. After the chaos of the holidays, we slow down and savor the slower month before the birthday month of February starts the chaos again. We skied a Powder Ridge, baked in the kitchen, took the dog for hikes, and spent a lot of time in Whitney's new power wheels rolling through the neighborhood.

February

February is another wild month in our family as the shorter month packs three birthdays. We start the month with Piper's birthday, and then Whitney and I later in the month. Piper had a "puppy adoption" themed party where the kids picked out puppies, picked out a collar and dog coat, named their dogs, and decorated little dog houses. The kids had cake while the adults drank champagne and it was a lovely day celebrating our two year old. Later in the month, we skied locally, and celebrated my birthday with a dinner at Cuckoo's Nest. To really celebrate my birthday, we headed up to New Hampshire and stayed at a bed and breakfast so we could spent an amazing Sunday doing something new. For my 37th birthday, Adam and I rented backcountry skis and hiked our way up Mount Washington to ski down the Sherburne Trail. It was absolutely amazing and such a fun adult only weekend to celebrate. We ended the month with Whitney's birthday, back at the gymnastics studio for a hot wheels themed party with a lot of kids.

March

March is a fun month where we finish off the ski season while enjoying time together and celebrating Adam's birthday. We went to the local chili fest, heading up to Vermont to ski and check out a ski club we eventually joined, celebrated the opening of Dairy Queen, and I ran my first half marathon since having kids. I "raced the train" and was thrilled to complete a sub 2 hour half marathon with Whitney watching.

April

April ends a cold winter in New England and yet, we still went skiing. We joined friends for a weekend at Killington, saw Thomas the Train in Essex, picked tulips at Wicked Tulips, rode horses, hiked as a family, and prepped for a big trip abroad in May. We ended the month with Easter at Adam's mom's house and an easter egg train ride in Essex.

May

May is all about prepping for summer and watching the world turn green again. We took off to Ireland for the first international trip with both of the kids. Adam's parents joined as well and we spent the week exploring the beautiful country. The time change and red eye with the kids was c h a l l e n g i n g - but we loved just about everything about Ireland. The month was spent preparing for the trip, on the trip, and recovering from the trip. We ended the month with a professional photoshoot at Harkness Park and welcome spring.

June

June is summer in New England and out comes the soft serve, trips to the beach, floating at the lake, and the end of school. Whitney graduated from Shoreline Early Learning Center, a school he had been at since he was 18 months old. He was leaving PreK3 behind and starting PreK4 at his elementary school. Life took on that crazy quiet where your town comes to life again, gearing up for the season it truly shines in.

July

July feels like summer is slipping away as the heat and humidity come full force and August feels too close for comfort. I ran Four on the Fourth with the kids (our annual tradition) and I happily pushed my kids through the hilly course in Chester. We went to my parents for a simple July Fourth get together and planned some fun summer get aways. We went to the Ski Lodge in Vermont and spent a weekend at Killington, exploring Quechee Gorge, and meeting other members at the club. We also went to Maine for a camping weekend and the kids truly fell in love with camping as they made friends, rode their bike around the campground, and lived in the pool.

August

August goes by in a blink as you gear up for the school year and fill the month with endless adventure. We went on Poppa's boat, spent time at the lake and beach, and had an amazing family vacation in Canada. We packed up the kids and bins of toys and drove north to a small lake town in Canada. Every day we swam on the lake, jumped on the kayaks, road bikes around, and just enjoyed the beauty of life and a little bit of the french much closure to home.

September

September is back to routines that we all crave. The kids were back in school (Piper 4 days a week, and Whitney 5). We had fun weekends at home, running in the rain, camping in New York with the cousins, and even sneaking away just Adam and I for a mountain biking trip in Vermont. I went to Storm King Art Center on a work trip and the leaves started to turn in northern New England.

October

October was the end of a magical garden season where we picked green beans, tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, herbs, and flowers all summer long. We went to the Trolley Museum to pick pumpkins, got dressed up for about 5 different halloween parties and events, and ended the month trick or treating (with a rainbow and a rainbow tree frog). It is one of my favorite months and the foliage in New England cannot be beat.

November

November is one of those transition months where we get to catch our breath before another busy season kicks off. After a long time off, Bradley was finally okayed for tack walking and Whitney and I enjoyed some time at the barn again. I stepped up adventure Fridays with Piper and we became members of our local zoo. As November came to an end, we got into the Christmas season with a viewing of the Polar Express, Thanksgiving at my parents, and a trip to New Hampshire for a magical weekend at Santa's Village.

December

December feels a but like the olympics for any parent with young kids. There are a million events to attend and just as many illnesses to dodge. Late bed times, over stimulated and over sugared kids, and emotions are running high for all involved. December is magical when you have a 2 and 4 year old. December is also absolutely exhausting and ending the month with a two week break feels like the challenge of the year. We fund raised for the local charities, teaching our kids all about giving during the season, decorated about a hundred sugar cookies, went to all the events, and enjoyed the holidays together.
