Sushi Burrito

Lets call this funky food Friday.  Or we can be really honest and call this after one crazy week, the most exciting thing I did was go to the vet and eat some good food (food is my favorite).  Exciting trips and adventures are ahead, but for now, I wanted to take the time to review some of my favorite eats and unique spots in Salt Lake City.

You can check out my on going (work in progress) list of some of my favorite foodie spots in the city here.   Sushi Burrito is a super fun spot with a unique twist that was too funky not to share.  It is not a sushi roll, and its not really a burrito..... but it is a sushi burrito.  Think of it as a sushi roll blown up to burrito size.. or maybe a hand roll on steroids.

No tortilla here, but instead seaweed paper, and the rice is just a natural in this combo.  No beans, but you can find your favorite sushi fillings like salmon, avocado, cucumbers, roe, and crab.  If seafood isn't your thing, then we cant be friends then there are other no fishy options.

We decided to start with an appetizer.  Because A:  you can never have too much seafood and B:  squid anything is always delicious (hello calamari, I am talking to you).  This was probably our favorite.  Not your traditional fried calamari, but I will take it sauteed or grilled a n y d a y of the week.  Super tender, marinated, and oh so good.  Start with this, please?

#9 Citrus

Then, move onto the main attraction, a sushi burrito.

#8  Hamachi

If you have two people, the best (and only) way to go is 50/50.  Every time.  So the salmon/citrus roll and the hamachi roll it was.  While they were both good, the salmon was my favorite.  It was quite powerful on the lemon side so make sure you are a lemon lover.  I wasn't in love with the corn in the hamachi roll.  They were also pretty filling with all of the rice, and stayed together pretty well.  Definitely keep this bad boy in his wrapper.

Just in case you were wondering, or if you didn't believe me, these suckers are normal burrito sized.  Yes, there are a lot of fillers, but for 8-9$, these are absolutely delicious and will fill that sushi craving in a fun way.  If you want a fun and different lunch, head to Sushi Burrito on 9th.  Even if you don't like sushi, there are plenty of non fish options.  My biggest complaint would be the geographic area.  It is not in the best part of town, and  the building is no frills.  Just be warned you may feel like you are on the wrong side of the tracks as you head to Sushi Burrito.  But I promise you, it is worth the trip!

(Sushi Burrito is also located in Provo and West Jordan now!)

  1. I love that sushi burritos are becoming a thing. There's a place in Philly that was pretty delicious, but my boyfriend always decides to pass on it. You're totally right, 50/50 is the way to go. So I need to find a new sushi-rito partner!
