Farmington Polo Summer Saturdays

It's polo season here in Connecticut. It sounds pretentious but the thing about heading to Farmington for a polo match is it can be anything you want. Bring the kids and the dogs and hang out with the family. Dress up and bring your girlfriends for a picnic. Bring your friends and some wine for cocktail hour before dinner. Bring nothing and grab food and drinks there and relax. I've been a few times and every time we go we plan it picnic style. We bring the dogs, pack a few chairs, bring a picnic-style dinner, and enjoy a sunny summer Saturday here in New England. It's relaxing, social, and a fun way for the kids to blow off some energy and the adults to mingle.

I love that it's easy to commit to and a no-fuss kind of event. You can plan it a month before or decide that day at noon that it's a good day to head to the polo grounds. There is a match every Saturday from June to September and it's the perfect excuse to gather with family and friends (you can check the schedule here to see who is playing.) You can reserve a tailgating spot before you go or buy a general admission ticket right at the gate.

General Admission tickets are available for purchase online in advance or at the gate on the day of the match. Tailgaiting spots have to be purchased online before the match. You can also buy tickets to the VIP tent or reserve season tables or tailgate spots for the summer.

Time

Matches are every Saturday from June through September. As we lose daylight towards the end of summer, the games start a bit earlier. I highly suggest getting there early if you are securing a general admission picnic spot. Matches typically last around 2/2.5 hours.

June through August Matches: Gates open at 3pm, matches begin at 5pm
September Matches: Gates open at 2pm, matches begin at 4pm
